Hair Extensions in Mt Laurel NJ
At Wig-A-Do in Mt. Laurel, we are a one-stop shop for all types of wigs, hair pieces and accessories. We are here to help our customers through every step of the process, from the initial consultation and choosing between colors, cuts and styles to the first fitting and all maintenance from then on. In addition to wigs, we also offer a wide selection of hair extensions and can answer any questions our customers may have about their application. Here are a few common tips for hair extensions.
Hair wefts (sections of hair, real or synthetic, which are sewn together at the top) are a cost-effective option. However, customers should always be sure they are buying the proper desired length; extra hair, especially human hair, can be quite expensive.
Hair wefts may be cheaper, but clip-in extensions are by far the easiest to apply. To keep the clips in place, however, one’s natural hair should be teased at the roots to help “roughen” it up. This prevents the clips from sliding out, especially overnight.
To wear hair up and add volume to an up-do or ponytail, clip-ins can be put in place upside down underneath a layer of hair in order to work against the roots. This may require some practice to look just right, so those who wish to learn how should not hesitate to seek assistance from hair care professionals.
Sponge rollers can appear to change the texture of hair/hair extensions, especially if they are synthetic. The hair can be dampened with water and air-dried overnight; while the sections are drying, they can be rolled-up into sponge rollers and left that way overnight. This can make the plastic-like texture of synthetic hair look much more natural and blend in much better with natural hair.
If synthetic extensions are being added to straight [natural] hair, using a small amount of shine serum on the natural hair before adding the synthetic strands is highly effective in helping the natural hair match the extensions’ sheen. To help synthetic extensions match hair that is naturally wavy, one can apply a thickening spray to the extensions and then scrunch them to create a rougher look that matches the real hair.
For customers who want to experiment with bangs but do not have them [literally], clip-in fringes may be a good idea. Recommended fringes for this purpose have longer pieces on the left and right sides to blend in excellently with natural hair.
