One of the best parts of wearing a wig is the ease it adds to getting ready and the peace of mind that you’ll have a good hair day every day. But what happens when you go to put on your wig and it’s tangled? Untangling a wig can take time and patience, something not all of us have when we’re trying to ready and out the door! Instead of working to untangle, use these tips on how to prevent tangling on your synthetic wigs and toppers!
Brush and Condition
The key to preventing tangles in your wigs and toppers is brushing them out after every wear. After wearing your hair piece, place it on the wig stand and gently brush, starting at the tips and working your way up to the cap. Remembering this step EVERY TIME you wear your wig will save you tons of time, energy and frustration down the road! It will also keep your wig looking newer longer. Then before you put the wig on, check for any tangles or knots and gently brush them out before applying the wig.
When you wash your synthetic wigs and toppers, about every two weeks depending on how often you wear them, apply a conditioner after you rinse out the shampoo. There are rinse out and leave in conditioners made specifically for the synthetic hair fibers in your wig that will keep the fibers smooth and help prevent tangles.
Always use hair products made for synthetic wigs. Using products for natural hair will cause damage to the fibers, which will greatly lower the lifespan of the wig and lead to more unruly and tangled hair.
